Cote Village, Boston's latest affordable housing development, is officially open! This summer, CICD and our development partners, Planning Office for Urban Affairs (POUA) welcomed Cote Village’s first tenants to their new homes at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Cote Village development was built on the site of the abandoned Cote Ford Dealership on Cummins Highway in Mattapan–a great example of urban renewal and of what is possible when stakeholders come together to create positive change. Positioned close to the newly-built Cummings Highway commuter rail station, Cote Village offers 76 units to families earning between 30% and 100% of the area median income with 10% of units set aside for previously homeless tenants. It also includes commercial space and a community garden. Transit-oriented affordable housing allows working families to commute to good jobs that support their families without the need for cars–and we need more of it in our city!
We look forward to the transformation of Cote Village from houses to homes, from a development to a community! Thanks to all who celebrated with us yesterday!
